American singer, musician, songwriter, composer, arranger, sound engineer, producer, actor, dancer. Frontman of [[artist:96774]] (from 1984 to 1986). And from 1991 onwards he was Leader of [the New Power Generation](https://www.discogs.com/artist/84751) (which evolved the line-up almost every year) until his passing in 2016. Prince was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

From 1986 to 1994 he ran [[label:5115]] and subsequently [[label:NPG Records]] resulting from his high profile disputes with Warner Bros. Records. Prince also had distribution of his music via various websites like [[label:621914]], [[label:823915]], [[label:873417]], and [[label:873416]]. He was also supporter of [[label:937873]], with exclusives being made available on the platform sporadically.

Son of pianist and songwriter [[artist:John L. Nelson]], brother of [[artist:Tyka Nelson]] (sister) & [[artist:79020]] (half-sister) was famous additionally for his work in the band [[artist:96774]].

Prince was married to [[artist:Mayte]] (from 1996 to 2000) and to [[artist:3190790]] (from 2001 to 2006). He owned [[label:269869]] where he spent so much time that it can be said that he lived in it, the doves [[artist:5204355]] were his fellow residents.
