Martha Wash

American vocalist, born in San Francisco, California on December 28, 1953. She began her career as a backing vocalist for [[artist:16794]], after which she formed part of [[artist:Two Tons O' Fun]] which was renamed [[artist:80134]] in 1982. In 1989, Wash was asked by Italian act [[artist:Black Box]] record and demo their songs. Black Box retained Wash's uncredited vocals on their debut album *Dreamland* (1990). Wash sued and won her case. In the same year, [[artist:C + C Music Factory]] released "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" which used uncredited vocal parts that Wash had recorded. Wash successfully sued the group for sleeve credits in 1991. Runs [[label:Purple Rose Records]].
