Fourth release by Happy Mondays. Released on Factory as 12" only on 12 October 1987 with cat# Fac 192. 7"s are only available as white labels or test pressings. Second outtake of the album Squirrel and G-Man Twenty Four Hour Party People Plastic Face Carnt Smile (White Out). Produced by David Young. The single stayed for 11 weeks in the UK Indie Charts, peaking at position 10. International releases only exist as imported UK copies (e.g. in Australia with a "Factory Records Australasia Import" sticker). The promo video was directed by The Bailey Brothers. The title track lent its name to Michael Winterbottom's film "24 Hour Party People", a fictional retelling of Factory Records, the Happy Mondays and the label's other acts, released in 2002. Remixes of "24 Hour Party People" by Jon Carter, were released in May 2002, and charted in the official UK singles charts at number 97. Reissued in 2019 as part of the release The Early EP's. Apart from the Happy Mondays and Factory compilations, 24HrPP appears on more than a dozen compilations (e.g. Indie Top 20 Vol. III, The Chemical Generation, Manchester North Of England, 80's à 90's UK Rock Vol. 2, etc.).
