About Off
"Off" is an acronym for *Organisation For Fun*, as well as the first three letters of "Offenbach", the city, where the band was established.
The group is an early step of 3 people from Frankfurt/Germany, all of them DJs from the local club scene in the mid-1980's. [[artist:48688]] and [[artist:48689]] already teamed up in 1984 to form the producer duo [[artist:2540170]]. Together with [[artist:1328]], who was part of the club scene at the [[artist:1328]] since 1982, they teamed up in 1985 and founded this project.
Their second single "[Electrica Salsa](https://www.discogs.com/master/59715-Off-Electrica-Salsa-Baba-Baba)" in late 1986 became a big hit in Europe. The group existed until 1990, when Anzilotti & Münzing focussed on their project [[artist:7698]], which went even more successful in the following years.
The project Off ranges between the styles Eurodance and New Beat, typical for Electronic music from Germany between 1985 and 1988. While Anzilotti & Münzing became pioneers of Eurodance in the following years, Väth embarked towards more Techno-oriented music, where he is considered to be one of the pioneers, as well.
