Record Label
The label was founded in 1971 by [[artist:95704]] and [[artist:95705]] in Philadelphia. Distributed by [[label:CBS]], until 1985 when [[label:Manhattan Records]] (owned by [[label:Capitol Records]]) took over distribution up to 1987. However, it's years with CBS yielded the bulk of what is now considered it's classic and strongest output. This deal yielded countless singles and LP's for artists such as Lou Rawls, The O'Jays, The Intruders, Dexter Wansel, McFadden & Whitehead, Patti Labelle, & countless others. This manufacturing and distribution deal with CBS was likely one of the most lucrative deals in the history of recorded music. The label is presently owned by [[label:Sony Music Entertainment Inc.]] and reissues and compilations are by subsidiaries [[label:Epic]] and [[label:Legacy]]. For counterfeit releases use [[label:Philadelphia International Records (2)]]
