About Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes

American R&B/Soul, Funk and Disco male vocal quintet from Philadelphia, PA.

Originally named [[artist:The Blue Notes (3)]] from the mid-50s, they changed their name to "Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes" in the mid-60s. One of the original member [[artist:Bernard Williams (3)]] then started his own group [[artist:The Original Blue Notes]]. Became one of the most popular soul acts of the Philly soul scene of the '70s. Throughout their career they underwent several line-up changes. In the mid-70s, they split again and another group revived the original bandname, [[artist:The Blue Notes]], formerly the backing band behind the ex-drummer/new lead singer [[artist:Teddy Pendergrass]].
