US label. Cotillion was a subsidiary label of [[label:681]] operating from 1968 to 1986. Its first significant artist was [[artist:Brook Benton]], who had his biggest hit in 1970 with *Rainy Night In Georgia*. It released the triple-LP **Woodstock** soundtrack album that summer. The label soon after signed progressive rock legends [[artist:Emerson Lake & Palmer]]. By the mid-Seventies, the label began signing the likes of funk bands [[artist:Mass Production]] and [[artist:Slave]], P-Funk splinter groups the [[artist:Brides of Funkenstein]] and the [[artist:Horny Horns]], [[artist:28332]] (briefly) and became the home of [[artist:Sister Sledge]], who had been moved from sister label **Atco** in 1978. The last active artists were [[artist:Johnny Gill]], [[artist:Stacy Lattisaw]], Slave and Sister Sledge, who were moved to the parent Atlantic label after it was deactivated. Lattisaw moved to Motown and Gill ultimately joined [[artist:New Edition]]. Still used on certain reissues (i.e. the Woodstock soundtrack album and the [[artist:39766]]'s **Loaded** album).
