About The Eternals

The Eternals was a trio composed three French DJs/producers from Toulouse, brothers Ali & Farid Allalou (aka [[artist:Dirty Ali]] & [[artist:Funky Farid]]) and [[artist:Henning Specht]] (aka [[artist:Monsieur Club]]). Back in the days Ali & Farid hosted a show on a Toulouse radio station, FMR, whose studios were located beneath a nightclub, Le Bikini. It was there that the two brothers met [[artist:DJ Gilb'R]] (Gilbert Cohen), head of the [[label:Versatile Records]] label, who wanted to create a dance-floor subdivision called [[label:Discotheque]]. Gilb'R then signed their first EP in mid-1999 under the name [[artist:Vinyl Fever]]. Ali & Farid discovered the 12" of [[artist:Funk Legacy]] (formed by [[artist:Romain Tranchart]] of [[artist:Modjo]] & [[artist:Davis Mouyal]]) and decided to send some beats to the [[label:Vertigo (2)]] label. "Times & Places" was then released in 2000 and included the funky-house track "04H50 AM On The Floor". Ali & Farid then founded the project The Eternals with Specht (who was part of the electronic music group [[artist:Hypnolove]] (along with [[artist:Thierry Moreira]] and [[artist:Nicolas Sentenac]]), which released tracks on the [[label:Confusion (3)]] label, as well as on [[label:Record Makers]], the former label of French group [[artist:AIR]]) whom they met at a disco while hosting and DJing as Vinyl Fever during a house music themed party. Specht had composed a little house demo track with lots of funk and disco samples which the brothers opted to produce. Farid composed a hip hop house beat, Ali (who is a Marvel comics expert) wrote the lyrics, did lots of editing and finnaly, Specht recorded himself Zeus' deep voice. That track became the hit track "Wrath Of Zeus" released on [[label:Crydamoure]] (the label of [[artist:Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo]], half of [[artist:Daft Punk]], who later refused to release their full lenght album on the label). Later, Ali & Farid met [[artist:Alan Braxe]] (who was living in Toulouse at the time) when he sold them a sampler. Alan introduced them to [[artist:Benjamin Diamond]] (producer & singer of [[artist:Stardust]]), who signed their projects Vinyl Fever & The Eternals to his own label [[label:Diamond Traxx]]. In 2002, Ali & Farid launched the project [[artist:The Altered Beast]] with their friend & collaborator [[artist:Madji'K]] signed on the [[label:VOX]] label (a subdivision of [[label:Vertigo (2)]] ) and released "Coney Island" on [[label:20000st]]. In 2003, The Eternals released their first and only album [m=63935] on Diamond Traxx / [[artist:Capitol Records]], conceived as a soundtrack to a science fiction film they had imagined. This album navigates between electronic music and nods to [[artist:John Carpenter]], with a few mysterious interludes. In 2004, they released the album on DVD, featuring short films, counting the Sci-fi story they had envisioned, and shot specifically for the occasion.
In 2011, the brothers Allalou revived the project "The Eternals" as a duo (Henning Specht, now based in Berlin, was not part of the reunion) and released tracks on their new label [[label:Night Force Records]] & a new track called "Tribute To Snake Plissken" on [[label:Champ'Caine Records]].
