Prince Far I was born Michael James Williams in Spanish Town, Jamaica in 1945. His first DJ name, however, was King Cry Cry and this name he used when DJing with the Sir Mike The Musical Dragon Sound System at the begininng of the 70s. Apparently having gained

his moniker from his tendency to sob uncontrollably when angered.
