Notes

The debut album from the Jungle Brothers, released November 8, 1988. The album was largely recorded without the use of a sampler (with the exception of the tracks "On The Run", "What's Going On", "Because I Got It Like That", and "I'm Gonna Do You"). Instead, they would lay down a beat straight off the records they were using as source material, in the words of Afrika Baby Bam: "looping it around by hand, eight bars at a time, until you had six minutes on tape, so there'd be enough music to do your rhymes before it ran out...I just had one copy of each record. That's the way most of the album was done." In addition to being the first Jungle Brothers album, this was noteworthy for being Q-Tip's first appearance on LP, on the track "Black Is Black". He had previously only rapped (in his debut appearance) on the Jungle Brothers b-side track "The Promo". Both "The Promo" and the Jungle Brothers' smash hip-house hit "I'll House You" were added to subsequent pressings of the album.
