The 1991 re-recorded version was a shortened version to the 1989 original. In 1998 and with an arena tour approaching and no new material ready for release, Mercury wanted a stop-gap release to help promote Best Of sales in the run-up to Christmas. This led to a remix of 'Sit Down' by Apollo 440 in the November of that year. It has never appeared in any of James' retrospective releases since.
