This EP release was three things: • a compilation of remixes from “En-Tact” and “Different Drum” • a showcase for the new single, “Comin’ On” (which was released separately in Europe under its own title) • a benefit release for “The New Statesman Defence Fund” (a portion of proceeds from sales went towards saving “The New Statesman” newspaper when it was sued in 1993 by UK Prime Minister John Major) The overarching title was "S.O.S. E.P.", which was intended to stand for "Show Of Strength", "Shamen Old Songs" and "Save Our Statesman". The original release date was on October 25, 1993, and it featured the same white/blue and white/red cover art as was found on the simultaneous release of the European "Comin' On" singles. Each of the four physical formats featured different tracks/remixes: the vinyl has mostly-instrumental dub versions, CD1 has mostly straightfoward extended vocal versions, CD2 has more experimental remixes, and the cassette has two pop vocal edits and two of the more experimental remixes. All versions of CD2 also come with a small foldout poster containing stills from the "Comin' On" music video.
