John Oswald's project layering Dark Star by the Grateful Dead saw different stages : 1994 saw the release of a single-disc version viz. Transitive Axis 1995 saw the release of a second CD, viz. Mirror Ashes 1996 saw the two discs converged into a single package called Grayfolded. Taken from over 100 performances of Dark Star recorded between 1968 and 1993, built, layered and "folded" to produce one large, new re-composed Dark Star.
