Greatest hits compilation covering the period from the breakthrough '[m=28401]' (1990) to the collaboration with [[artist:157635]] on '[m=28313]' (2003). During this time Primal Scream released five studio albums: '[m=28274]' (1991); '[m=28159]' (1994); '[m=28345]' (1997); '[m=28150]' (2000); '[m=28136]' (2003). Singles from all of these albums are included on 'Dirty Hits', alongside non-single album tracks 'Long Life', 'Shoot Speed / Kill Light', and 'Deep Hit Of Morning Sun'. The hits '[m=28126]' and '[m=28324]' are omitted. Though not indicated as such, 'Loaded', 'Burning Wheel' and 'Kowalski' are edits made for this compilation. The 'Loaded' edit is longer than the original 7" version. 'Come Together' is included in its 7" mix by [[artist:2657]]. 'Higher Than The Sun' is the 7" mix by [[artist:54286]]. 'Kill All Hippies' is the [[artist:20997]] edit. 'Some Velvet Morning' is the 2003 single mix, which is significantly different to the album version. In the case of 'Swastika Eyes', the single was an edit of [[artist:2290]] mix; 'Dirty Hits' instead features an exclusive edit of the Spectre Mix by [[artist:9660]].
