Liner Notes

The 1994 release was the first official soundtrack album to contain the original recordings as heard in the 1982 film. Several had samples from the film added, and many were specially segued into seamless suites for this release. The contents can be summarized as follows: • Main Titles [+ film dialogue & sound] / Blush Response [+ film dialogue] / Wait for Me [+ film dialogue] / Rachel's Song* • Love Theme • One More Kiss, Dear • Blade Runner Blues • Memories of Green** / Tales of the Future* / Damask Rose* / Blade Runner (End Titles) / Tears in Rain [+ film dialogue & sound] * Composed for the film, but not used in it. ** Used in the film, but not composed for it; originally from the 1980 album [m=6094]. In 1989, several unsegued tracks were released on Vangelis's [m=12258] compilation: • End Titles [fades out slightly early] • Love Theme [has a tape speed problem at the start] • Memories of Green The only other official soundtrack album release with Vangelis's recordings was the Blade Runner Trilogy 25th Anniversary edition, released in 2007. This 3-CD set included the 1994 album, a disc of 12 previously unreleased tracks, and a disc of 12 new songs inspired by the film. Meanwhile, over the years, fans compiled a number of bootleg releases, including the comprehensive, well-received "Esper" Editions.
