Born in the spring of 1996 and originally run by Hecate & DJ Kareem, the duo went separate ways after Zhark 00002. Hecate formed [[label:Zhark International]] (first titled Zhark London), covering broken and caustic beats and tortured ambience, while Kareem formed the company [[label:Zhark Recordings Berlin]] and continued to use the label name and logo Zhark, churning out more 4/4 kick drum attacks.
