Record Label
Street Beats (or Streetbeats as it was referred to internally as well) was formed in early 1994 by [[artist:Phil Wells]] and Arthur De Sousa at the Record Basement in Reading (the shop front to [[label:Vinyl Distribution]]), as a platform for the three most ground-breaking drum and bass artists of the time; Truper (aka Photek), Oblivion (aka Source Direct) and Peshay. The roster expanded quickly offering new talent a chance. In 1995 when Phil and [[label:Vinyl Distribution]] parted ways the label was managed by [[artist:351597]] and [[artist:Blue (2)]]. With the release of SBEATS 013 the label found its new sound; a fusion of abstract beats, soul funk vibe and streetwise aggression.
