SPV Poland was started in 1990 as a division of the German company SPV GmbH, with the focus of their catalog being Polish editions of releases from Western European labels, such as [[label:Who's That Beat?]]. They gained attention for being the Polish label of [[artist:The Legendary Pink Dots]], re-issuing much of their back-catalog and also releasing some compilations exclusive for the Polish market. In 2002, label manager [[artist:Igor Kurowski]] bought SPV Poland from the German parent company and changed the name to [[label:Big Blue Records]]. Despite the name change, much of the back-catalog remains available.
