After nasty business with [[label:Moving Shadow]] in 1997, five key members of staff ([[artist:Caroline Butler]], [[artist:Simon Colebrooke]], [[artist:Sean O'Keeffe]], [[artist:Paul Rhodes]] and Gavin Newman) walked out of the Moving Shadow offices and started their own Partisan label with the backing of [[label:One Little Indian]]. In 1999, after the [[label:One Little Indian]] financial crisis, label moved across to the [[label:Truelove Music]] group of labels for a short spell, only for the same thing to happen again, at which point Partisan called it quits. A successor of sorts, [[label:Over/Shadow]], was launched in 2020.
