Record Label
The original MP3.com (based in San Diego, CA) allowed artists to create CDs from material they had uploaded to the site. These were then available for purchase via the site as DAM (Digital Automatic Music) CD-Rs (DAM-CD) and included printed labels and art. If they chose to, artists could limit the time a DAM-CD was available. Once the site was shut down and sold in December 2003, all releases became unavailable. **Note:** Only physical releases from the original MP3.com are allowed on this page. All DAM-CD releases contain an enhanced section with on-disc MP3 files, artist information, and oftentimes includes built-in MP3 player software. Every DAM-CD release has a catalog number. On early DAM-CD releases (3 grouped numbers, XXX-AAAAAAAAAA-BBBBCCCC), the first group of numbers in the barcode should be entered as the catalog number. On later DAM-CD releases (2 grouped numbers, AAAAAAAAA-XXXX) the second group of numbers in the barcode should be entered as the catalog number. These numbers are a combination of the Order ID and the Catalog Number (and a manufacture date in the case of 3 grouped numbers as on early DAM-CD releases). MP3.com considers these numbers as barcodes even when not printed as such, and are oftentimes printed as barcodes on either the disc ring or the back of the packaging. As such, please enter the full number as a barcode. Due to the on-demand printing nature of these releases, the barcode is ALWAYS going to be unique on every individual copy. As such, the barcode should be listed as a variant if both the artwork and the tracklisting does not differ, otherwise please submit it as a separate submission. Please do not include other company logos (PCDJ Phat, Made With Macromedia, Music Match Jukebox, Visiosonic) in the credits section as no one role fits smoothly for these cases. This data should be mentioned in the release notes instead. When the D.A.M. Digitalautomaticmusic logo appears, enter it as a "Manufactured By" credit. A "Manufactured For" MP3.com credit should always be included.
