Record Label
**This page is for the label, for the company please use [[label:Lyntone Recordings Ltd.]] to March 1986** from April 1986 the Company was Lyntone Audio Reproduction Limited and tended to place "Made in Britain by Lyntone" on pressed disc label area rather than the company name. Lyntone are best known as a manufacturer of flexi-discs, due to being the European licensee of the flexi-disc process that was developed and patented by [[label:Eva-Tone Soundsheets]]. Originally owned by Mr & Mrs Lynton as Audio Plastics Ltd the company was sold to Rank who traded as Rank Audio Plastics Ltd before being re-purchased by Paul Lynton and created Lyntone Recordings Ltd as the legal company. Most pressings have Made In England by Lyntone Recordings on the disc face ( some have Ltd added ). Made in England by Lyntone London appears to be a disc pressing style used prior to acquisition of Lyntone Audio Reproduction Ltd by Damont Lyntone also pressed vinyl and occasionally they self-released records with Lyntone as the stand alone label (e.g. [r=3247137]) mainly as promotions for their product ranges. In April 1986 the company is renamed Lyntone Audio Reproduction Ltd , becoming a subsidiary of [[label:117315]] in June 1987, before closing plant in December 1991. Pressings may appear in early 1992 releases and as some equipment was moved to Damont post 1991 pressings may look similar to earlier ones from the Lyntone plant. References to [[label:380740]], Damont and Lyntone often appear together in vinyl runouts. Metalwork could be processed at any of these plants and then pressed at Damont or Lyntone. The metalwork would receive extra engraving as it was passed between plants.
