Record Label
Liberation Records is an independent label created by [[artist:Michael Gudinski]] and [[artist:Glenn Wheatley]], which initially operated between 1981 and the late nineties. The Liberation Records label was revived in late 2017. Please note that any releases on the Liberation Music label, which is a separate label owned by [[artist:1161485]] and [[artist:822550]], set up in 1999, should go on the [[label:Liberation Music]] page. Liberation Records was initially distributed by [[label:EMI]] in Australia and [[label:206607]] in New Zealand, and for a brief period (c1987-90) by [[label:CBS Records Australia]]. From May 1990, Liberation Records product was transferred to Festival distribution (often times with a sticker over the barcode indicating a new catalogue number), and in the late 90s by [[label:9694]] when it was absorbed as the foreign licensing division of [[label:Mushroom]] in Australia and BMG in NZ.
