German label / Sometimes abbreviated as I.C. on releases. A predominantly electronic music label, Innovative Communication, aka IC, was founded in 1978 by the pioneer [[artist:Klaus Schulze]] and [[artist:2303257]], with consultation and publishing by [[artist:265962]] (I See Music and P.O.E.M. Musikverlag) and distribution via [[label:43012]]. Initial releases were largely by friends of [[artist:10360]] of Synth Music (Berlin School) and Krautrock related music, plus an incognito project of [[artist:10360]] under the guise of [[artist:18791]]. In 1980, IC parted with WEA and joined up with the independent distributor [[label:266746]]. The next releases (16 of the first 17 in the KS series) adopted a new strategy of 45 rpm LPs "for better quality" although this idea was eventually abandoned. In 1983, [[artist:Klaus Schulze]] sold his shares in IC to concentrate on his music. [[artist:379882]] took over as musical director and [[artist:533594]] as chief producer. Under their direction bands like Software, Peter Seiler, Mind over Matter, Megabyte and Quiet Force joined the label. Over the next few years, IC became one of the major players of the then booming new age music market. **Barcodes:** Early releases (up to 1988) do not have barcodes. They were introduced sometime very late in 1988 or early 1989, with dual barcodes for German and USA sales appearing about a year later.
