New Zealand label, founded in 1981. Self-distributed from 1981 to October 1987. Distributed by [[label:WEA Records Limited]], Oct 1987 to April 1990, then to [[label:Festival Records (NZ) Ltd.]] (for NZ) and Mushroom Records (in Australia). Partially sold to [[label:Mushroom Records]] at the same time, with Mushroom acquiring the balance over the next decade. When Warner Music purchased [[label:Festival Mushroom Records]] in 2005, Flying Nun went as part of the deal. In 2010 Flying Nun was sold to a consortium owned by founder [[artist:Roger Shepherd]] and [[artist:Neil Finn]]. Owned in 2023 by Shepherd and [[artist:Ben Howe]].
