Record Label
One of the conglomerate of independent record labels founded in 1962 by record shop owner and producer [[artist:Bobby Robinson]] in New York City. This Harlem label had been home to saxophone legend [[artist:King Curtis]], and in 1979 it put out its first hip hop record, "Rappin' and Rockin' in the House" by [[artist:96320]]. Released many early classic 12"s of the hip hop genre. Went out of business in 1993.
