Record Label
In association with [[label:Dance Zone Records]]. D-Zone was started in an Essex bedroom in early 1990. It was a way of releasing harder dance material from [[artist:Andre Jacobs]]'s original label, Dance Zone. The first release was possible due to the friendship that André had with Danny Donnelly of [[label:Boogie Times Records]] (& later [[label:Suburban Base Records]]). [[label:Dance Zone Records]] had been hit by Spartan Distribution going bust and Danny bought 1000 copies of the first d-zone track, [[artist:Hypersonic]] "Dance Tones" that André had got Spartan to pay for. This track was produced by André & Danny because André had booked a studio session in Surrey but his car had been stolen. Danny offered to drive André to the [[artist:Michael Gray]]'s studio in Surrey so André asked Danny if he'd like to help with the track. D-Zone started the careers of many artists including including [[artist:Michael Gray]], [[artist:Jon Pearn]], [[artist:Tim Laws]] ([[artist:Gabrielle]] & [[artist: The Lighthouse Family]]), [[artist:Kevin Beber]] & many more. The label also worked with the [[artist:Blapps Posse]] and many other great producers that André had admired from his DJ'ing days. The label stopped releasing singles after just 3 years when André wanted to try something new. The biggest selling artist on the label was Tekno Too (Tekno 2) who's anthemic Jet-Star sold over 50,000 copies in the UK alone. It missed out on a top 40 because the first batch of 5000 sleeves had the black barcode printed over the blue background which meant they couldn't be read by Gallup's chart machines, a lesson painfully learned by André. Geri Halliwell was a dancer for Tekno Too. D-Zone also worked with [[label:Suburban Base Records]], [[label:Reinforced Records]], [[label:Strictly Underground Records]], [[label:Rising High Records]] and many other labels exporting their tracks around the world. André repaid Danny by helping Sub Base get their first foreign deal for [[artist:Sonz of a Loop Da Loop Era]] "Far Out" with [[label:ZYX Records]] in Germany.
