Record Label
1970s-1980s soul label from Chicago, Illinois, launched by producer and former [[label:Brunswick]] Records executive [[artist:Carl Davis]] in 1976. Originally pressed and distributed by [[label:United Artists Records]], it switched distribution to [[label:20th Century Fox Records]] in 1978. It had success with [[artist:Gene Chandler]], [[artist:The Dells]] and [[artist:The Chi-Lites]] during the 20th Century Fox period (1978-81). After the deal ended, Chi-Sound used independent distribution and had sporadic releases until at least 1990. Davis relaunched the label in 2007. Do not confuse with the independent hip-hop label Chi-Sound Entertainment.
