Bennett started as a guitarist for Post-Punk band [[artist:Essential Logic]], before forming [[artist:Come]] in 1979. Come's life was brief, as Bennett soon formed the pioneering Noise band [[artist:Whitehouse]]. He also founded the labels [[label:9135]] in 1979, then [[label:5387]] in 1988.

After the end of Whitehouse, he started composing music as [[artist:Cut Hands]].
