The X-Men was a DJ crew founded in 1988 by Roc Raida (Harlem), Stevie "Superman" Dee, Diamond Jay (Long Island), and Johnny Kash (Harlem). Sean C (Harlem) and Rob Swift (Queens) joined around 1991, soon followed by Mista Sinista. Dr. Butcher was also a member at this time. Total Eclipse joined in 1996 after winning the International Turntablist Federation World Championship. When they got a record deal with Sony/LOUD, the X-Men started going under the name [[artist:9839]] to avoid copyright infringement, and the lineup included only Roc Raida, Rob Swift, Mista Sinista, and Total Eclipse. Mista Sinista left the group in 2001, and Rob Swift in 2004.
