About Seawind
**Important note!!** For the horn section within the group, please use [[artist:656205]].
American jazz fusion band formed in Hawaii in 1974 as [Ox](https://www.discogs.com/artist/1643317-Ox-14). Changing their name to avoid entanglements with [[artist:1102573]], they became known as Seawind in 1976 when they moved from the islands to Los Angeles, California. The move to the mainland was due, in large part, to [[artist:64652]]. He got them a regular gig at the Baked Potato in Studio City, just north of Hollywood. Mason also got them a recording contract with CTI and two albums quickly followed (in '76 & '77). Extensive touring delayed the next two albums (on A&M) until 1979 & 1980. The band broke up in 1982 but came back together for 2009's Reunion album.
