About Robert Fripp
British guitarist, keyboards player, writer and producer who is best known as a founder and only continuous member of [[artist:70828]], born May 16th 1946 in Wimborne, Dorset, England, United Kingdom.
From King Crimson's debut album [[i]In The Court Of The Crimson King[/i]](https://www.discogs.com/master/406634) in 1969, through to the most recent studio album *[m=478]* [2003]. To date, King Crimson played their last live performance in Tokyo, Japan on December 8th 2021. His career celebrates over 50 years as a professional musician and 60 years as a guitarist. Also well known for the development of *Frippertronics* and Soundscapes, a method of "making a lot of noise with one guitar" through the use of tape / digital delay, rack-mount synthesizer units, and other effects. With [[artist:276130]], Fripp co-owns and operates the record label [[label:24675]] (DGM) which specializes in releasing King Crimson material, as well as side projects from many of the rotating KC members, himself included.
Robert is also the founder of *Guitar Craft* seminars (the first of which took place at [[label:567654]] in West Virginia, USA from March 25th to 30th 1985). From the mid-1980s and into the early 1990s the performance arm of *Guitar Craft* toured extensively as [[artist:488720]]. During 2010 *Guitar Craft* became the *Guitar Circles* of North America, South America, and [Europe](https://www.discogs.com/artist/5294111). Robert continues to direct [[artist:2967489]] and the Symphony of Crafty Guitarists. On September 1st 2022 Fripp's first widely published book *The Guitar Circle* was released by [[label:213526]], in association with DGM.
Fripp married [[artist:262134]] in Dorset on May 16th 1986.
