About Republica
English alternative rock band formed in 1994 in Windsor, Berkshire. They released two albums in the late 1990s.
The band was formed by members [[artist:Tim Dorney]] and [[artist:Andy Todd]], and soon joined by [[artist:Saffron]] ([[artist:Samantha Sprackling]]), [[artist:Alix Tiernan]], and Mick Pirie. [[artist:Johnny Male]] joined and Pirie left in 1995, after their first two singles were released. During their first album cycle, [[artist:Dave Barbarossa]] joined and Tiernan left. Barbarossa and Todd left before the second album cycle in 1998. Their first album, [m=106807] (1996), had two singles which reached the top 40 on the UK singles chart ("Ready To Go" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous"), and their second album, [m=106808] (1998), had one ("From Rush Hour With Love").
Republica were mostly on hiatus between 2001 and 2010. In 2023 and 2024, two singles from an upcoming third album were released. Since 2024, Saffron has been the only remaining member.
