Raw Silk came about as the idea of [[artist:Ron Dean Miller]] And [[artist:Bert Reid]], both former members of [[artist:Crown Heights Affair]], and they brought in Jessica Cleaves, Sybil Thomas, Tenita Jordan and, later, Valerie Pettiford who toured in place of Thomas.
