Was an American jazz electric bassist and composer.

Founding member of the jazz-funk band [[artist:The Herbie Hancock Group]] who recorded the epic album "[m=19493]" & later released material as [[artist:The Headhunters]] in the 1970s. Since 1985, he moved his residence to Japan and continued to be active in many aspects of the Japanese music scene.
