From around 1996, [[artist:Mars]] (aka Michael Robbins) & Mystrë started throwing raves in and around San Francisco. In 1998, they opened Frequency 8, America's first record store dedicated to the trance movement, and following its success, started eponymous event organization and related record label [[label:Frequency 8 Records]].

Soon after the release of their double mix compilation [m=823990], they parted ways; Mars embarked in a solo career, developing his Frequency 8 record label, while Mystrë took over the record shop, renaming it [[label:Reverb Records (3)]] and evenly using as a record label too, before finally going out of business during the 2000's.
