American musician, composer, singer and painter, born 18 May 1950 in Akron, Ohio, USA. Son of [[artist:Robert L. Mothersbaugh]], brother of [[artist:Bob Mothersbaugh]] and [[artist:Jim Mothersbaugh]].

Formed Devo in 1973 with [[artist:Gerald V. Casale]]. During a Devo hiatus between 1984-1988, Mothersbaugh released instrumental solo albums in his Musik For Insomniaks series and began a lucrative career as a soundtrack artist, starting with Pee-Wee's Playhouse in 1986, and in 1994, he began scoring films.
