About Malaria!
German all female new wave band, formed in Berlin January 1981.
Starting as a duo of [[artist:331995]] and [[artist:49376]] (both formerly of [[artist:3116084]]), their debut 12" was intriguingly recorded at [[label:322474]] in Berlin, and produced by [[artist:224403]]. Soon after, [[artist:2373061]] ([[artist:3987158]]), [[artist:375281]] ([[artist:297535]] / [[artist:55972]]) and [[artist:524520]] ([[artist:60072]]) entered the band, and they released the album "[Emotion](https://www.discogs.com/master/86409-Malaria-Emotion)" in 1982. After the release of "[Beat the Distance](https://www.discogs.com/release/1070356-Malaria-Beat-The-Distance)" in 1984, they disbanded, with Köster and Hahn moving to the US.
In 1991, Köster, Gut, and Duursma got back together and restarted Malaria.
