Keith Rowe

English free improvisation tabletop guitarist and painter, born 16 March 1940, Plymouth, England. He is a co-founder of the English improvising ensemble [[artist:12550]], established in 1966. Already in the late 1950s Rowe started experimenting with preparations on the guitar, influenced by the ideas of [[artist:205525]]. In the early 1960s he was a member of [[artist:151195]]'s band until his resolution never to tune his guitar again, made his resignation from the group unavoidable. Since then Rowe has exclusively played the "table top guitar", as a soloist, in AMM and in various other groups.
