British drummer, producer and songwriter born January 4, 1948 in London, England. He is brother of [[artist:626064]].

He started in the London music scene in the 1960's, where he played for the Psychedelia band [[artist:339425]]. He moved to Germany in 1970 and joined [[artist:41201]]'s [[artist:804721]]. He was also drummer for [[artist:192177]] and in 1971, after the split of Motherhood, he joined the short-lived successor band [[artist:1060983]]. He also was part of the supergroups [[artist:56047]] and [[artist:728947]]. Niagara was the band, by which he came in contact with [[artist:86472]], for which he became drummer in his band [[artist:921853]], where he played until 1976.

In 1977, he started his second life as producer and session musician. As session musician, he played for [[artist:Harold Faltermeyer]] and [[artist:Giorgio Moroder]] among others.

His first hit as producer was [[artist:103159]]'s "[Hey Little Girl](https://www.discogs.com/master/123641-Icehouse-Hey-Little-Girl)". Best known songwriting credit was "[Don't You (Forget About Me)](https://www.discogs.com/master/58693-Simple-Minds-Dont-You-Forget-About-Me)", becoming a mega-hit for [[artist:Simple Minds]], originally intended for [[artist:Billy Idol]]. Forsey has been Billy Idol's longtime producer. He won an Academy Award in 1984 for co-writing "[Flashdance...What a Feelin'](https://www.discogs.com/master/48230-Irene-Cara-Helen-St-John-Flashdance-What-A-Feeling)''. He also co-wrote "[Hot Stuff](https://www.discogs.com/master/85309-Donna-Summer-Hot-Stuff)" with [[artist:36628]] and [[artist:41085]] for [[artist:Donna Summer]].
