**Jim Henson** (24 September 1936, Greenville, Mississippi — 16 May 1990, New York City, NY) was an American puppeteer most famous for creating *[[artist:The Muppets]]* with his wife, **[[artist:Jane Henson]]** (1934—2013), as well as developing, operating, and voicing [[artist:Kermit The Frog]] character. Jim and Jane co-founded the [[label:Muppets, Inc.]] in 1958, which subsequently rebranded several times, currently active as **[i][[label:The Jim Henson Company]]**. They had five children, including [Cheryl](/artist/2190124) (b. 1961) and [Brian Henson](/artist/9748900) (b. 1963), who all joined the family empire.
