Born in Cleveland, OH, Jeanette first appeared as a background singer on recordings by [[artist:James Brown]] in 1975. That year she joined [[artist:Parliament]] with [[artist:Debbie Wright]], becoming the first female members of the group. Recorded with [[artist:Parliament]] (1975–1980) and [[artist:Funkadelic]] (1978–1980), both featuring [[artist:George Clinton]], and with the [[artist:Sweat Band]] featuring [[artist:Bootsy Collins]] and [[artist:Maceo Parker]] (1980). In 1978 George Clinton formed what he considered to be the female version of Parliament, **[[artist:Parlet]]**, with Jeanette, [[artist:Debbie Wright]] and [[artist:Mallia Franklin]].

Because of a few personnel changes in the group, ([[artist:Shirley Hayden]] and Mallia replaced Debbie, [[artist:Janice Evans]] replaced Mallia) Jeannette was the only original member to record all three of the group's albums: [[master:19681]], [[master:19688]] and [[master:19694]] for Casablanca before leaving in 1980. In 2000, she appeared on [[artist:Dawn Silva]]'s solo release, [[master:19760]].
