Swedish musician and ex graffitti writer, Johan Antoni, born and raised in Stockholm, started making music in 1994.

He is inspired by old school electro/funk and hip hop as well as sleazy Chicago house and harmonic Detroit techno, the first tracks were crafted with a 303, 808 and akai sampler. The early tracks were a potpourri of all the musical influences and didn't really get anywhere, but a distinct style began to evolve and in 1996 he started the collective and label [[label:Urban Electro Squad]]. UES (short for Urban Electro Squad) were one of the few (nearly the only) live acts on the then flowering Stockholm club scene. UES has had a variety of members since then (the only consistent one apart from J Antoni being Ruba, a close friend since the graffitti days), and a variety of releases on different labels in different styles ranging from beats to deep techno to jazzy house, experimental stuff on his own UES label and a lot of remixes for other labels, all more or less produced by J Antoni. In 1998, he teamed up with S Krooks and formed [[artist:Betamax Crew]], with this project focusing on more club oriented tracks. Ever since, he's released tracks under the various monikers, and also under his own name.
