About Hugo Zentveld

After first taking to a pair of decks at the tender age of 12, it was only to be expected that Hugo would at some point get into music production. He got swept up in the Dutch rave and hardcore scene in the early 90s and put out his first release when he was a mere 18 years old. He was quite prolific during this time, releasing on several different labels and making it onto some best-selling compilations.

Around the year 2000, Hugo switched to playing and making some more mature sounds, immersing himself in the burgeoning garage and house scene. However, he was living in the wrong place at the time, as his very UK-focussed style could not find much footing in the Netherlands. When Hugo scored a no 11 chart hit in the UK at the end of 2003 (as half of AngelCity), he decided the time was right to move to England, where he has been a resident ever since.

DJing took on a more prominent role again, and music production took a bit of a backseat. In recent years, he has reinvented himself as Alex Orange, playing a broad mix of hip hop, reggae and other associated styles.
