About Frank Vanderlinden

Frank Vanderlinden (August 20, 1981 – May 29, 2022) was an electronic music producer from Ghent, Belgium, celebrated for his innovative productions as one half of The Specialists. Alongside his brother Peter, Frank shaped the electronic music landscape from the early '90s onward, creating unforgettable journeys through Trance, House and Techno. Performing under their shared aliases, The Specialists and Virtual Darkness, As Virtual Darkness, Frank channeled his energy into Hardcore and Gabber, producing powerful and intense tracks that highlighted his bold artistic vision. Frank and Peter navigated through diverse realms of electronic music with unique creativity. Frank's musical journey began with violin lessons using the Suzuki method, which involved playing music by ear instead of reading notes and this established a strong foundation for his artistic career. His early passion for music, combined with Peter's influence, led to the formation of The Specialists and Virtual Darkness in 1992. Frank died by suicide at the age of 40 on May 29th, 2022.
