About Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band

Disco band formed in New York's the Bronx in 1974 by [[artist:346522]] and who became one of the most original musical ensembles of the disco era. The concept of the group was the re-creation of a '30s jazz-swing band, à la [[artist:253474]], with witty lyrics, a disco beat and lush disco arrangements and orchestrations. They had a big dancefloor hit with Cherchez La Femme. After their third album, in 1979, [[artist:1270593]] and [[artist:73414]] left & went off to form the '80s dance-band [[artist:32620]]. One final Savannah Band album followed in 1984.

"Had it not been for my brother, Stony, I would have remained a school teacher. He made fun of my job to such an extent that eventually I decided to join his group, Dr Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band, as the bass player." [[artist:55005]] in 2021.
