About DJ Orphée
DJ Orphée is a Paris-based vinyl DJ and selector, active since 1993. Emerging from the early European trance and rave scenes, he developed his approach through record digging, long-form DJ sets and a deep connection to underground electronic culture.
Between 1995 and 1999, he was part of the influential Parisian record store Salinas alongside Guillaume La Tortue, a key hub for electronic music at the time. During these years, he performed at raves including Trance Body Express, Tekno Tanz, Magic Garden, Take No System and D-Mention, as well as clubs such as Rex Club (Paris), Mazzo (Amsterdam) and Liquid Room (Tokyo). He also appeared alongside artists including Juno Reactor, X-Dream and The Source Experience.
He mixed and released several compilation CDs for the Fairway label, including Goa Core 1, 2 & 3, Mystical Trance and Electric Mental Trance, contributing to the development of psychedelic trance and Goa music in Europe during the 1990s.
From 2013 to 2019, he co-founded and curated the Paris-based events La Fête Triste and Quick Culture. These projects focused on experimental, industrial and leftfield electronic music, presenting cult underground artists such as Severed Heads, Esplendor Geométrico, Volition Immanent and many more.
DJ Orphée currently performs under his original name, exploring the full spectrum of underground electronic music through vinyl-only sets, from proto-techno and acid to hypnotic, experimental and genre-defying sounds.
