Joined [[artist:Sly & The Family Stone]] in 1975. Born Sacramento, California 1954. Original member of [[artist:Brides Of Funkenstein]] with [[artist:Lynn Mabry]] and joined [[artist:Parliament]]-[[artist:Funkadelic]] in 1977.

In 1978, with Lynn, released the successful [[master:19717]] album. The Bride's first single release on Atlantic Records, "Disco To Go", sold over five hundred thousand units, and was *Certified Gold.*

In 1979, with [[artist:Sheila Horne]] and [[artist:Jeanette McGruder]], released the follow-up, [[master:19722]], voted by Rolling Stone in 2001 as one of the top 50 coolest albums ever released. The Brides were the only group in the P-Funk organization to receive a Rhythm and Blues Award in 1981 for their work.

Only member of Brides on both albums. Left P-Funk in 1981. Also collaborated with [[artist:Ice Cube]], [[artist:Eurythmics]], [[artist:Coolio]] and [[artist:Roy Ayers]], on the *Boyz in the Hood* movie soundtrack. Recorded and toured with [[artist:The Gap Band]].

Released her solo project [[release:1404907]] in 2000, and her autobiographical book *Shadows On The Wall - Memoirs of a Funk Queen* in 2023 as numbered and signed edition with poster.
