Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Harvey made her recording debut as [[artist:Connie Laverne]] in 1974.

In the late 1970s she was studio vocalist in New York (often with her friend, [[artist:Jocelyn Brown]]), collaborating with [[artist:Ecstasy, Passion & Pain]] on three unreleased tracks and providing backing vocals for [[artist:Teddy Pendergrass]] as one of his "Teddy Bears", alongside [[artist:Harriet Tharpe]].

Paradise Garage favourite [[master:187190]], mixed by [[artist:Larry Levan]], featured Harvey's uncredited vocals.

She is best known as a house music vocalist with releases in the 1990s on labels such as [[label:Eightball Records]] and [[label:Bassline Records]].
