Chemical Plant

At their core, Chemical Plant are a duo of Ashley Davies and Op M.C., but have collaborated with many other artists. The sound is a balance of hypnotic percussion and experimental/ambient sound montages, mixed with ethereal vocals and paranoid commentaries. An experimental recording project formed in London by Richard Gallon and Ashley Davies in the late 1980s. Combining tape manipulation, found sound, improvised performance, spoken word and industrial textures, the group released four albums on Chainsaw Cassettes between 1989 and 1991: This Is Your Life, The Room, The Cold Store Tapes (with Pinkie Maclure and Fiona Sail) and Cassemtex. The project continues to this day, with releases on the D.O.R label and their own imprints.
