Charles Miller

Saxophonist and flutist (July 2, 1939 – June 14, 1980) was an original member of [[artist:War]], one of the premier ’70s funk bands. Started his career in recording sessions with [[artist:Ray Charles]] and in live performances with [[artist:Brenton Wood]]. Then with [[artist:Harold Brown]], [[artist:Papa Dee Allen]], and [[artist:Howard Scott]] formed a band called Nightshift, also worked with [[artist:Eric Burdon]] and [[artist:Lee Oskar]]. Was murdered in a botched robbery just two weeks before his 41st birthday. The crime has never been solved.
